Who can get a residence permit in Ukraine on the basis of family reunification?

• A husband or wife who are officially married;

• Children;

• Parents (retired)

• Native grandparents;

• Siblings.

Please note: Only full relatives can obtain a residence permit on this basis.

Documents and the period for obtaining a Residence Permit for family members in Ukraine

Documents that will be needed for any of the family members to obtain a residence permit in Ukraine on this basis:

• passport (of the host and the invitee)

• translation of passport (of the invitee)

• health insurance policy (for the invitee)

• financial pledge (from the host)

• residence permit with a certificate of residence registration (from the host).

Please note! The documents must be translated into Ukrainian and certified by a notary.

Documents required for certain categories of family members, confirming family ties:

- For husband or wife - the original marriage certificate and its translation;

- For children -  the original birth certificate and its translation;

- For parents - the original birth certificate of a foreigner child who has a residence permit in Ukraine where they are listed as parents (including its translation);

- For grandparents - the original certificate:

а) the birth certificate of the host party with a translation;

b) the birth certificate of one of the parents, whose parents are the grandparents of the host party.

- For brothers and sisters - the original birth certificate of the host and the invited party with a translation, as well as the original or certified copies of the parents’ passport documents with translation.

• If the residence permit of a host party expires or is revoked, it will automatically be revoked for the invited party as well;

• The host party may have a residence permit for more than 1 year, but the invited party will get a permit for up to one year only;

• You will not be able to work legally in Ukraine if you have only a residence permit;

• The procedure for obtaining a residence permit on this basis can be complicated for grandparents, brothers and sisters of the host party;

• The host party must have sufficient funds to invite relatives to Ukraine: the embassy may ask to present a certificate from a bank that a person has not less than UAH 50,000 on the personal bank account in Ukraine.
