Usually it is easier to get a residence permit for this reason than for any other, because a foreigner needs to have a passport and to adhere to the time limits for staying in Ukraine set by the law:

• Сitizens of Georgia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Russia shall only enter Ukraine and have at least 15 business days of legal stay in Ukraine to submit documents to the migration service;
