Our country became an independent state in 1991. In the same year, the Law regulating the acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship was adopted, but for a long time the majority of the population lived with Soviet passports of the model of 1974, which were stamped "citizen of Ukraine". Only in 1995-1996 did "mass passportization" begin and our citizens began to receive Ukrainian passports, the so-called "blue books".
