For example, not so long ago we were contacted by a health and beauty centre, which needed to expand its medical specialties and staff. They needed to increase the number of specialists in order to perform surgeries, as well as to use anesthesia when providing medical services to children.

How to expand the Medical License?
Expanding a Medical License actually means making changes to it. That is, the notification of the Ministry of Health of all changes that have occurred in the medical activity.
According to the licensing requirements, the licensee shall notify the licensing authority of any changes within one month from the date of any changes.
The procedure for expanding specialties in the Medical License is practically similar to the procedure for obtaining the Medical License. The only difference is that the licensee shall submit to the licensing authority only the documents on new employees and accordingly new equipment required for each new specialty.
To make changes in these specialties, the licensee shall prepare and submit the following documents to the licensing authority:
- Notification of changes, which shall clearly specify all new specialties;
- Information about the qualifications of new medical workers (a diploma, a certificate and an identity document);
- Information on medical equipment (required for new staff);
- Metrological verification of the new equipment;
- Sanitary and Epidemiological Certificate (specifying the area of the offices required for new specialists)
All the above information shall be entered into the statements on the material and technical base and submitted to the licensing authority.
The licensing authority of the Ministry of Health considers these documents and makes a decision, which is published on the official website of the Ministry of Health within 15 business days. After the publication of the positive decision, the changes made to the Medical License are deemed to be approved, which allows to legally carry out activities on new specialties.

What kind of difficulties can arise when expanding the Medical License?
One of the problems may be the additional equipment, which will need to be purchased for each new specialist. It is important to understand that, as with the primary equipment of the doctor’s office, it must clearly meet the licensing requirements. The metrological verification of this equipment may also be a problem.
But one of the main questions that arise at the time of business expansion is how to accommodate all new doctors. Because each new doctor should have an office with the area required by the State Building Codes of Ukraine B.2.2-10:2017.

How to ensure a seamless extension of the Medical License?
To start work on expanding the medical business, you need to be properly prepared:
- You must own or have the right to use the premises. Moreover, the premises area must allow to accomodate all existing and new specialist;
- The doctors must have appropriate education to provide the desired services;
- The equipment required for each new specialist must coincide with the equipment required by the licensing regulations.
